Parenting Time

The attorneys at McCarten Law Firm understand the need for non-custodial parents to continue a meaningful relationship with their children following a divorce or break-up.  Although Minnesota law presumes that the non-custodial parent will receive a minimum of 25% parenting time, the court has discretion to increase or decrease the percentage of parenting time depending on the circumstances of each case.  If the parties agree on a parenting time schedule, court involvement can be avoided.  Parenting time schedules are typically determined by the child’s age and the parents’ ability to communicate and co-parent.

The attorneys at McCarten Law Firm can explain your options regarding parenting time and the pros and cons of a parenting time agreement versus a contested court proceeding.  Our attorneys strive to help you create a parenting time schedule that is uniquely tailored to the needs of your family.
